The 1882 Project

This event is sponsored by the GU Chinese Student Alliance and is produced by EALAC major Ali Smith.

Ali (COL ’13) is a Chinese and American Studies double major whose research has has focused on Chinese American immigration and community history. She also volunteers in Washington, DC’s Chinatown where she teaches English and Citizenship classes.

After graduation, Ali will work as a legal assistant at a local immigration law firm and will serve as a research assistant for Mae Ngai, a Professor of History at Columbia University working on a book on the Chinese mining diaspora.
