Grant Opportunities for Japanese Studies
The Embassy of Japan has shared the following grant opportunities with us.
The Government of Japan/the Japan Foundation has launched new grant programs for U.S.-based universities in response to the current budget challenges facing Japanese Studies programs. In response to these challenges, three grant programs are now available:
- Study Tour Grants for Undergraduate and Master’s Students
- Postdoctoral Fellowships in the U.S.
- Short-Term Visiting Professorships in the U.S. for Japan-based Faculty
Application deadlines:
- June 1 for Programs 1 and 2
- July 1 for Program 3
These opportunities are currently planned as one-time initiatives, so we encourage colleagues and friends in Japanese Studies to consider applying.
Eligibility: U.S.-based universities and colleges with 501(c)(3) status or qualifying tax-exempt status)
