KREN-3045: Korean Language and Culture

Course Description: This course is designed for those who are interested in the Korean language in relation to its culture and society. The course explores the diverse ways in which people employ language in different cultural and social settings. It aims to direct students to an in-depth and critical discussion on the major issues related to language, culture and society, such as language and social relations, language and cultural identity, language variation as well as language change. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to gain a general understanding of the social and cultural contexts of the Korean language. This course is taught in Korean.
